Restaurant Review:

Chanoso's

by Eric Bonnici

***************************************************************

My EOW business partner Susan introduced me to Chanoso's in September. This quaint establishment has been around since around 1997 or so but my first time trying it out was just 2 months ago. My advice is don't put off trying it out like I did because this is one restaurant you will want to add to your list of places to eat regularly.

I was impressed by Chanoso's excellent service. As Susan and I entered an attentive server wearing a pleasant smile greeted us. She made sure to check up on us on regular basis throughout our stay in order to ensure we had everything we needed.

The décor is modern and homey producing a comforting ambience to this quaint dining establishment. This dimly lit restaurant is made of an impressive blend of trendiness and style that resulted in a charming and pleasing environment.

An enchanting array of aromas ventured into the dining room from the kitchen. At first I figured this was an Italian style restaurant. After all fabulous garlic odors escaped from the kitchen. Not to mention the Italian wine on the wine list. I quickly realized they also offered Oriental style and other types of food on the menu as well. The best way to describe Chanoso's fantastic cuisine would be a Cross Cultural fare.

The menu is composed of a wonderful selection of items in a combination never to be found in any other restaurant. We tried the noodle rolls that came with a tasty peanut sauce. Very delightful, tasty and healthy too! The grilled bread with funky spread was fabulous and zesty. I found it to be a little pricey for the portion size but the uniqueness and zesty flavors more than made up for it. I had a great noodle stir fry that came in a large sized portion. The wine selection is excellent and we went with a fine bottle of Valpolicella, a fruity, medium-weight red wine produced in the Veneto region of Italy.

If you're like me you are probably trying to figure out exactly what does Chanoso's mean. Is it a term in a different language or something else? After doing some research I discovered the founders of Chanoso's are Paul Chanko and Eric Donoso. Combine their last names and you get Chanoso's! An interesting little fact don't you agree?

Overall, I highly recommend that you treat yourself to a meal at Chanoso's.

Chanoso's is listed under Roadhouses Grills and Family Restaurants at Eyes On Windsor http://www.eyesonwindsor.com/guides/dining/grills.shtml

Dianne Bryon on The Pitt For Pasta

Edited by Eric Bonnici

***************************************************************

A few days ago I received a pleasant email from Dianne Bryon just after she subscribed to the Eyes On Windsor E-Zine. After an email exchange Dianne sent in her thoughts on The Pitt For Pasta.

Here is what she had to say in her first email

"My husband and I are a middle-aged couple, our kids are all grown and we go out to eat a lot. We are always looking for different places to go - I just stumbled upon this site and signed up to get your information - am looking forward to it getting your future issues.

Wishing you success with this - Windsor is a great place to live and it is good to see it being promoted.

Thanks Dianne "

I responded to the above and asked Dianne what one of her favorite restaurants in Windsor is. Here is what she had to say.

"Eric Thanks for responding to my email - I was surprised to hear from you - I wasn't really expecting that.

Last week my husband and I went to the 'Pitt for Pasta' for supper - we had gone there one day during the summer and enjoyed it so when another couple suggested we all go out, we took them there - the pasta is delicious but before the meal we had mussels as an appetizer - they were in a cream sauce and tasted better than anywhere else we have ever had them. There was quite a few on the plate and we dipped bread that comes with all meals in the sauce because it was just too good to waste. Service was good too."

I would like to thank Dianne for her input.

I would also like to hear from the rest of you subscribers out there.

Tell me about your favorite restaurant. I would love to put your thoughts or review in the next issue. just email me at eric@eyesonwindsor.com I hope to hear from you soon

Sincerely,

Eric Bonnici
